On Wednesday, May 6, 2020 the Washoe County Sheriff's Office will begin a cautious, modified rollout of services which have been scaled back due to COVID-19 concerns. Concealed Carry Weapons (CCW) permits and work permits will be processed by appointment only.

Appointments for a CCW or work permit will be available between 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday-Thursday. To schedule an appointment call (775) 328-3023.

The Sheriff's Office will perform stringent health protocols to help protect visitors and employees against spread of the coronavirus. All applicants will be screened upon entering the Sheriff's Office at 911 Parr Blvd. Applicants must have their temperature taken, their shoes sprayed with disinfectant, and must also wear a face mask. If a person does not have a face mask, one will be provided to them as long as supplies are available.

Only those requiring services should enter the Sheriff's Office. Visitors are asked to refrain from bringing family members or friends.

Once an applicant has checked in with the front lobby, the customer will be asked to wait in their vehicle until they are called on their mobile phone to return inside for processing. If the applicant does not have a vehicle or cell phone they may sit in the main entrance hall of the Sheriff's Office. The Records division lobby will remain closed.

Sheriff Balaam and staff continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic response daily and will determine future steps based on developments and the recommendations of health officials.
