Because increased social distancing precautions at the Washoe County Sheriff's Office Detention Facility are causing changes to normal visiting procedures, starting next week the company that provides the jail's current video visitation system will provide inmates one free weekly video visit with someone located off-site.
iWebVisit.com will provide every person currently in custody with one free 20-minute remote visit per week so that they may stay in touch with loved ones during this public health emergency.
Usually video visitations are only free when they are conducted on site at the Washoe County Sheriff's Office Detention Facility on Parr Blvd. However, Sheriff Balaam has asked that family visitations be conducted remotely in order to comply with social distancing guidelines.
The free, weekly, off-site visits will start Monday, May 4, 2020 and run through May 31, 2020.
One day advanced scheduling is required. Visitors also need to ensure the device they are using is supported by iWebVisit.com.
Anyone wishing to schedule a visit can set up an account on www.iWebVisit.com. Once an account has been created, the visitor may search for the inmate's name to schedule a visit. For more detailed information on visitation scheduling, head to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office website.
