Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam and staff believe that the Sheriff's Office plays an important role in helping those in need connect with agencies that provide essential services necessary for success. Their success reduces the likelihood they will resort to crime, increasing the overall safety of the community.

"For more than six months now, our Detention Facility staff have stepped up efforts to connect inmates who need a helping hand in order to change their lives with the community agencies that can provide that helping hand," Sheriff Balaam said.

As part of those efforts, the Sheriff's Office is hosting a Community Resource Fair, bringing many of these agencies together in one place, at one time, in order to provide answers to questions about what resources are available in our community.

The Sheriff's Office invites all interested residents of Washoe County to take part in this unique event. The Community Resource Fair is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2019, outside the Washoe County Sheriff's Office at 911 Parr Blvd.

Partnering agencies include: Northern Nevada HOPES, Access to Healthcare, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Downtown Reno Project, Tu Casa Latina, Women and Children's Center, Planned Parenthood, Ridge House, Salvation Army, CBA Healthcare, Community Health Alliance, Join Together Northern Nevada, Foundation for Recovery, Health Plan of Nevada, Renovation Mental Health, TMCC, Job Connect, Medicaid, Washoe County Health District, Reno Behavioral Health, Reno Municipal Court Self Help Center, and The Discovery Museum.

"This is an impressive group of service organizations and agencies and I strongly encourage residents to attend if they have any questions about where to find help with employment, housing, health care, or other essential services," Sheriff Balaam said.
