The Washoe County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division and Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T) responded to a single vehicle rollover accident near the intersection of Sun Valley Boulevard and Quartz Lane on Monday, July 27, 2015 at approximately 11:00 p.m.
When Deputies arrived on scene they discovered a female victim who had sustained major injuries. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Witnesses on scene stated that a male occupant of the vehicle fled the scene prior to the arrival of Deputies and other emergency personnel.
Washoe County Sheriff's Deputies were able to identify the male that fled the accident as Derek Meyer, 28 years old, of Reno. Mr. Meyer was interviewed and subsequently arrested in the early morning of July 29, 2015. Meyer was booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility on charges of reckless driving resulting in substantial bodily harm and failure to stop at the scene of an accident, both felonies.
