Detectives with the Regional Narcotics Unit (RNU) have arrested Reno resident Mason Wakefield for drug trafficking and weapons charges.

In August 2022, RNU detectives had information that Mason Wakefield was selling and trafficking Fentanyl throughout Washoe County while in possession of firearms.  RNU Detectives Located Mason’s vehicle at the Nugget Casino in Sparks and observed him enter and leave in the vehicle.  A traffic stop of Mason’s vehicle was conducted and Mason was found concealing a firearm.  A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted revealing nearly three pounds of fentanyl powder, over a pound of Xanax pills, 300 ml of liquid GHB, a half-pound of oxycodone pills and a half pound of methamphetamine.  An additional firearm was found in his vehicle.

Mason was charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance (42+ grams), four counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell, two counts of High Level Trafficking of a Controlled Substance (400+ grams) and one count of Concealing a Firearm without a permit.
