Joining Forces grant supports Washoe County Sheriff's Office ongoing efforts to make roads safer

The Nevada Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety awarded a $108,000 grant to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office to support the Sheriff’s Office participation in Joining Forces traffic safety campaigns during 2019.
Joining Forces is a multi-jurisdictional statewide effort to increase safety on Nevada’s roads by increasing enforcement and awareness of traffic laws. The goal is to reduce accidents and save lives by conducting high-intensity traffic safety campaigns focusing on DUI, distracted driving, seat belts, speed, and pedestrian safety.
The Washoe County Board of County Commissioners accepted the Joining Forces grant during today’s commission meeting. This grant enables the Sheriff’s Office to dedicate deputies to Joining Forces events taking place between October of 2018 and September of 2019.
Participation in Joining Forces is important to the Sheriff’s Office ongoing commitment to increase traffic safety in Washoe County. The Sheriff’s Office reminds the public that they are essential to this effort.
