The Training Section ensures that agency personnel, commissioned and non-commissioned, receive training in all subjects areas that are relevant to job performance or required by County code. Training improves the quality of law enforcement service to the community by ensuring that the training provided to commissioned and non-commissioned personnel is current. Providing individual training to staff members increases their effectiveness and professional development.
Nevada Administrative Code 289 (NAC) specifies the
minimum standard of training for commissioned officers. It is the responsibility of the Training
Section to develop, coordinate, document and verify that staff members
receive the required training.
Any commissioned employee hired after December 12, 1997, including those deputies graduating from the POST 25 Academy on or after December 12, 1997, are required to take and pass, on an annual basis, the four-part (4) Med-Tox Physical Abilities Test as a condition of continued employment.
The test is administered by the Training Section.
