The Rail Auxiliary Team
was created to provide a trained force familiar with rail operations
to act as additional eyes and ears for law enforcement and the community.
They report suspicious activities as well as any hazards that might
interfere with safe railway operation.
The Rail Auxiliary Team
is WCSO volunteers who have completed the standard background checks
and 18 hours of Community Emergency Response Team or Citizen’s
Homeland Security Council training.
Rail Auxiliary Team training
is a 16-hour training curriculum consists of classroom training
and field exercises and training patrols. The course was created
by a group of military and law enforcement professionals and Rail
Auxiliary Team volunteers receive continuing education and training
on subjects relating to their mission. The Rail Auxiliary Team volunteers
complete assigned patrols and work events as requested.
The Rail Auxiliary Team is trained to identify surveillance techniques
as well as other law violations on railroad property (trespass,
vandalism) and is drilled on non-confrontation/approach and trained
on being good witnesses.
