Two men are in custody today after Washoe County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the area of Latigo Drive on a report of a residential burglary in progress. Units were dispatched to the call shortly before 10:00 this morning.

The RAVEN helicopter was completing a training flight and was in the area when the call was dispatched. Several patrol units were also responding to the incident near Caughlin Ranch.

RAVEN observed two males exit the residence on Latigo Drive and get into a maroon sedan and drive away from the residence. RAVEN followed the suspect vehicle in the neighborhood and began directing the responding patrol units to the suspects. RAVEN observed the subjects throwing items from the vehicle as they drove through the neighborhood. These items were later collected by Deputies and included articles of clothing and a weapon.

As the first responding patrol unit was coming into the area, the suspects attempted to ram the patrol vehicle with their vehicle and then sped off onto Mayberry Drive. As the vehicle continued down Mayberry Drive at a high rate of speed and committing other traffic violations the responding patrol units terminated the vehicle pursuit and allowed RAVEN to follow the suspect vehicle.

RAVEN followed the vehicle to the area of Idlewild Drive and Booth Street where the two suspects ran away from the car and fled into an apartment building. Sheriff's Office K9 and patrol Deputies, along with the assistance of the Reno Police Department, Washoe County School Police and RAVEN set up a perimeter on the apartment complex.

Deputies eventually located the suspects hiding inside one of the apartment units and both subjects were taken into custody without incident.

The suspects in this case have been identified as Curt Torvick, age 49 of Sparks and Frank Willis, age 32 of Silver Springs.

Both subjects have been charged with assault with a deadly weapon, eluding a police officer, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both men are being held on $45,500 bail at the Washoe County Detention Facility. Additional charges are pending.
