Washoe County Deputies recover stolen gun during traffic stop

Two men are in custody today after alert deputies discovered narcotics and a stolen hand gun during a traffic stop. Washoe County Sheriff's Patrol Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the area of Lemmon Drive and Millitary Road just before midnight on June 21, 2016.

The vehicle was occupied by two subjects, Jimmie Dombeck of Reno and James Avampato of Sun Valley.

During the traffic stop, a Washoe County K9 alerted on the vehicle and Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle. During the search, Deputies discovered trafficking amounts of methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription pills and drug paraphernalia as well as a stolen handgun.

Amampato was found to be an ex-felon and was arrested and booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility on charges of possessing stolen property and ex-felon in possession of a firearm. His bail has been set at $40,000.

Dombeck was arrested and booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility on drug trafficking charges, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail has been set at $46,000.
