Washoe County Sheriff's Office deputies have a residential burglary suspect in custody after responding to a burglary in progress call on the 3000 block of Running Bear Lane in Golden Valley earlier this afternoon.
The homeowner reported the burglary at approximately 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 after coming home to find the residence had been ransacked and the suspect still on the scene. The suspect and the homeowner got into a physical altercation before the suspect fled the residence on foot.
After arriving on scene, Washoe County deputies quickly set up a perimeter and asked for assistance from the Sheriff's RAVEN helicopter as well as several Washoe County K9 units. Through this collaborative effort, deputies were able to determine the location of the suspect in a residence on a nearby street and make contact. Several items of evidence were located and the subject was then placed under arrest.
The suspect has been identified as a male juvenile and booked into the Jan Evans Juvenile Detention Facility.
Anyone who may have been a witness or who believes they have information related to this incident is asked to call the Washoe County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division at (775) 328-3350.
