At approximately 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2015, officers from the Reno Police Department responded to a report of an active shooter situation in the 200 block of East Grove Street.
Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims of a shooting incident. The suspect was also on scene. The suspect reportedly confronted officers and shots were fired.
The two victims and the suspect were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The suspect was declared deceased at the hospital.
No officers were injured during the incident.
During the course of the incident, a fire broke out in a residence believed to be related to the shooting. The Reno Fire Department is currently working that fire and the exact origin and cause of the fire is still pending investigation.
In accordance with the Regional Officer Involved Shooting protocol, a team comprised of the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department and Washoe County District Attorney's Office is conducting a joint investigation into the shooting. The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is the lead agency in that investigation.
Additional details will become available as the investigation continues.
The involved officers have been placed on routine administrative leave per Reno Police Department policy.
