Sheriff's Office Detectives charge suspect in Sun Valley homicide investigation |

Washoe County Sheriff's Office Detectives announced today that they have formally charged 18-year-old Jonathan Jaramillo (a.k.a. Jarmillo) of Sun Valley with murder in the death of a 16-year-old male juvenile that occurred during a party in Sun Valley on the night of October 9, 2015.
Jaramillo has been in custody on unrelated charges since October 10, 2015.
This is an ongoing investigation and detectives would still like to speak with witnesses to the incident. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Washoe County Sheriff's Office Detective Division at (775) 328-3320 or Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900.
Background:
At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2015, deputies responded to the 5600 block of Igloo Drive on a report of a possible shooting. When deputies arrived at the location they discovered a male victim of a gunshot wound in the back yard of the residence.
The victim was declared deceased at the scene.
According to witnesses, the suspect fled the scene before deputies arrived.
Sheriff's Office detectives, along with the Regional Gang Unit were able to identify Jonathan Jarmillo as a person of interest in this investigation.
