The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is investigating alleged fraud involving a travel business operating within the County. The Sheriff's Office has received approximately 12 complaints alleging fraudulent activity involving Vysa Travel, of Sun Valley.

The complaints allege that Vysa Travel charged their credit cards to purchase travel reservations. Customers have since learned their travel reservations were never booked and when they went to the business it was closed and abandoned.

According to investigators the Washoe County business license for Vysa Travel was cancelled on September 18, 2014 for non-payment of the annual business license fees. Such a cancellation occurs only after the business owner fails to remit the required license fees after 3 separate renewal notices are mailed (one per month, starting 3 months before the annual license renewal date). This would have made any of their business activities unlawful per Washoe County Code between September 2014 and August 2015.

"The Sheriff's Office is concerned about these allegations and the potential loss faced by the reported victims," Sheriff's Office Lieutenant Tom Green said. "We are currently working to obtain the necessary documentation to prove these allegations and identify the suspect or suspects however cases such as this require records and research, something that can take time."

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is asking for anyone who may have been a victim of this business to file a report at the Washoe County Sheriff's Office or online at www.washoesheriff.com. The Sheriff's Office also reminds citizens to be sure to use only licensed businesses and to report any suspected fraudulent activity to law enforcement immediately.

Anyone who may have information useful to the investigation is asked to call the Washoe County Sheriff's Office Detective Division at (775) 328-3320 or Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900.
