The Washoe County Sheriff's Office Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) is currently investigating a fatal, single-vehicle rollover accident that occurred late Monday afternoon near the intersection of Dolores Drive and Starhill Way in Spanish Springs.
The accident took place at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2015. The sole occupant of the vehicle was an adult female. Investigators say that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and was partially ejected from the vehicle. The driver was transported to a local hospital where she was later declared deceased.
The preliminary investigation also indicates that excessive speed was a factor.
The Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office is currently in the process of conducting a formal identification and next of kin notification for the deceased. The cause of death will also be determined by the Medical Examiner's Office.
The Sheriff's Office is asking for information from anyone who may have witnessed this accident. Witnesses may contact the Sheriff's Major Accident Investigation Team Office at (775) 328-3350.
