On Wednesday, November 19th, the Sheriff's Office will launch "Warrant Wednesday," a weekly feature on their Facebook page that enlists the public's help with locating people who have outstanding arrest warrants.
Every Wednesday images of wanted persons will be added to the WCSO Facebook page along with arrest or bench warrant information, and a contact number. The Sheriff's Office is asking for the public to view and share these postings, and to provide any information that will help investigators apprehend the fugitives.
"Law enforcement agencies across the country are starting to see the benefits of using social media to share information that will lead to safer communities," Sheriff Haley said. "Facebook's mass appeal provides us the opportunity to reach to a larger, more diversified audience."
The Sheriff's Office reminds residents not to take any police action themselves. If they have information about the whereabouts of a wanted individual, contact the Sheriff's Office or law enforcement in their jurisdiction.
To view the "Warrant Wednesday" postings, visit the Washoe County Sheriff's Office Facebook page every Wednesday at https://www.facebook.com/washoesheriff.
You don't need a Facebook account to view "Warrant Wednesday," however, if you do have an account, the Sheriff's Office invites you to "Like/Follow" their page.
