The Washoe County Sheriff's Office congratulates Sheriff-Elect Chuck Allen. After nearly 30 years of service to the State of Nevada as a state Highway Patrol Trooper and member of the Nevada Air National Guard, Sheriff-Elect Allen is scheduled to take office as the 26th Sheriff of Washoe County during a swearing in ceremony on January 5, 2015.

"This has been a hard fought and incredibly close race. I congratulate Sheriff-Elect Allen on his victory, and look forward to working closely with him in the next few months," said Sheriff Mike Haley.

Sheriff Haley has assembled a team to provide comprehensive transition support to assist Allen. "The first few months of a Sheriff's administration can be crucial to achieving a successful administration and build important relationships within the agency," said Sheriff Haley. "I have complete confidence that Chuck Allen will continue this agency's commitment to providing the highest quality law enforcement, detention and support services possible."

In addition to his service with the NHP and National Guard, Sheriff-Elect Allen has been actively involved with several charities and community benefits. Sheriff-Elect Allen said that he plans to bring his long-standing commitment to community to the Sheriff's Office.

"I entered this race because I believe the Washoe County Sheriff needs to be committed to this community. I want to see the Sheriff lead by example and encourage our deputies to engage in our community," Sheriff-Elect Allen said. "I know we have talented and knowledgeable staff who serve every day at the Washoe County Sheriff's Office and I hope to encourage and inspire a stronger connection with the community we serve.

"This will not only benefit the community but it will allow for a more open and transparent relationship between the community and the Sheriff's Office."

Chuck has been married for 21 years to Teresa. They have two grown children, Bailey and Sheldon, and two dogs.
