Update: Sheriff's Search and Rescue Teams locate missing hunter north of Reno |

Washoe County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue teams, working with the Sheriff's Office RAVEN helicopter were able to locate the missing hunter at shortly after 10:00 a.m. this morning. The hunter has been safely returned to the staging area.
The following is from s press release issued earlier this morning:
At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, the Sheriff's Office initially received a report of two lost hunters, both male, in the Fish Springs Ranch area. One of the hunters was able to contact the Lassen County Sheriff's Office by cellphone. Lassen County contacted the Washoe County Sheriff's Office who then initiated the search effort.
Washoe County search teams were able to locate the hunters' vehicle and one of the missing hunters on Wednesday night. The search for the second hunter continued throughout the night and into Thursday morning.
Over two dozen Sheriff Search and Rescue volunteers are currently searching an area approximately four miles south of Fish Springs Ranch on Fish Springs Road. Fish Springs Ranch is located between Sugarloaf Peak and Vinegar Peak, roughly 15 miles northeast of Doyle, California.
The Washoe County Sheriff's RAVEN helicopter will assist with the search as weather/smoke conditions allow.
