Washoe County Sheriff's Office leads Officer Involved Shooting investigation

At approximately 5:05 p.m. on Sunday, August 31, 2014, officers from the Reno Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery and shooting at the CVS pharmacy located on Plumb Lane just east of Virginia Street.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that one patron had suffered injury from a gunshot wound. The patron, an adult male, was transported to a local hospital.

The suspect had fled the scene of the shooting in a vehicle. Reno Police Officers located the vehicle and a pursuit ensued. During the course of the pursuit, shots were fired in the area of Wrondel Way and Topaz Drive.

The pursuit continued to the area of Hubbard Way and South Virginia Street. Shots were exchanged and the suspect, a male adult, was injured and transported to a local hospital where he was declared deceased.

No officers were injured during the incident.

In accordance with the policies of the Reno Police Department, the involved officers have been placed on routine administrative leave.

The Regional Officer Involved Shooting Team, comprised of the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department and Washoe County District Attorney's Office is conducting a joint investigation into the shooting. The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is the lead agency conducting the investigation.
