CONTACT: | Sgt. Morgan Jaeck Washoe County Sheriff's Office Office 775-328-3374 |
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office reminds drivers that there will be temporary parking restrictions along McCarran Boulevard during the Great Reno Balloon Race at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park.
As part of efforts to reinforce the safety of pedestrians and motorists during the event, parking is not allowed along McCarran Boulevard between North Virginia Street and Keystone Avenue from Monday, September 1 through Monday, September 8, 2014.
Parking in the median is never allowed per state law.
These temporary parking restrictions are implemented to increase public safety by reducing the dangers caused by a large number of vehicles stopping, standing or parking along a heavily used roadway.
Motorist and pedestrian safety are among the Sheriff's Office highest priorities during this event and Deputies will be continuously patrolling the area to enforce these parking restrictions.
All motorists are asked to use extra caution and stay focused on the road, not the balloons, when driving in the area of the event.
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is dedicated to preserving a safe and secure community with professionalism, respect, integrity and the highest commitment to equality. Sheriff Darin Balaam is the 27th person elected to serve as the Sheriff of Washoe County since the Office was created in 1861. The Washoe County Sheriff's Office strives to ensure public safety by building trust and creating partnerships within the diverse communities in which we serve. We will promote the dignity of all people supported by our words and actions through open communication while fostering an environment of professionalism, integrity and mutual respect.
