Washoe County Sheriff's Office Detectives reported today that they have received formal identification of an inmate who passed away at the Washoe County Detention Facility on Sunday morning.
The decedent has been identified as Kerry A Roop, age 31, of Reno.
Roop was booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility on August 22, 2014. She had been ordered by Washoe District Court to serve a 48-hour commitment after failing to comply with a previous court order.
This is an ongoing investigation. According to Detectives, there are no signs of foul play and no suspects at this time. Exact cause of death will be determined by the Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office.
