Detectives with the Washoe County Sheriff's Office continue to investigate the death of a man whose body was found near the boat docks at Sand Harbor on Friday, August 22, 2014.

At approximately 10:50 a.m. on August 22, Deputies responded to Sand Harbor on a report of a body in the water. Upon arrival, Deputies learned that students in a paddleboarding class saw what appeared to be a body under the water near the docks. The instructor responded and saw what he described as a white male tangled in some ropes affixed to a boat. The victim was pulled to the surface where he was pronounced deceased by emergency medical responders.

Sheriff's Office Detectives investigating the death have found evidence that indicates the man had been working on the boat and appears to have entered the water on his own volition. Although the circumstances of the death are still under investigation, there does not appear to be foul play related to the man's death at this time.

Exact cause of death will be determined by the Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office. The Medical Examiner has identified the deceased man as Carl Strickland, a 40-year-old resident of Incline Village. Next of kin notifications have been made.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact The Washoe County Sheriff's Office Detective Division at (775) 328-3320.
