The Washoe County Sheriff's Office reports that the victim of the shooting that occurred on Thursday, June 12, 2014 on Janere Court in Spanish Springs has been declared dead.

The Sheriff's Office has received confirmation from the Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office that the deceased has been positively identified as Jeffery James Montgomery, age 45, of Spanish Springs. Next of kin notifications have been made.

Preliminary information indicates that Mr. Montgomery's death was a homicide and that the cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds. The Sheriff's Office is awaiting the completed reports from the Washoe County Medical Examiner.

The suspect in the shooting was identified as 19-year-old Brandon Moore-Montgomery. Brandon Moore-Montgomery is the son of Jeffery Montgomery. Moore-Montgomery surrendered to authorities early on the morning of Saturday, June 14, 2014. At that time, he was arrested on charges of Attempted Murder and Use of a Deadly Weapon.

Moore-Montgomery has now been charged with Open Murder.
