The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal vehicle versus pedestrian accident that occurred Monday evening in Lemmon Valley.
The pedestrian, identified as Lesa Fisher, age 52, of Reno, was walking southbound on Lemmon Valley in the area of Surge Street around 6:00 p.m. when she was struck by a 2005 Gold Chevy Cobalt that was travelling in the same direction. Fisher was transported to a local hospital.
At approximately 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, Fisher was declared deceased as a result of her injuries.
The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with the investigation. At this time, driver alcohol use or speed do not appear to be factors in the accident and no charges have been filed.

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office reminds pedestrians and motorists that pedestrian safety is a shared responsibility.
Tips for Drivers:
- be aware that you may encounter pedestrians at anytime and anywhere
- pedestrian can be difficult to see. Drive with caution, particularly at night or in bad weather
- drive slowly near crosswalks and be prepared to stop
- always stop for pedestrians who are in a crosswalk
- never overtake and pass other vehicles stopped for pedestrians
- be especially attentive around schools and in neighborhoods where children are active
Tips for Pedestrians:
- use sidewalks whenever possible. Where no sidewalks are provided, walk facing road traffic
- only cross or enter streets where it is legal to do so. Stay off freeways and other restricted zones
- be visible: dress in light colors, wear reflective material or carry a flashlight
- use extreme caution when crossing streets, try to establish eye contact with drivers to ensure they see you
- TEXT LATER: cellpone use, texting and other distractions can be just as dangerour for pedestrians as drivers. Pedstrains should always stay focused on traffic and your surroundings
