The Washoe County Sheriff's Office reminds drivers that there will be temporary parking restrictions along McCarran Boulevard during the Great Reno Balloon Race at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park.

As part of efforts to reinforce the safety of pedestrians and motorists during the event, parking is not allowed along McCarran Boulevard between North Virginia Street and Keystone Avenue from Saturday, August 31 through Sunday, September 8, 2013.

Parking in the median is never allowed per state law.

These temporary parking restrictions are implemented to increase public safety by reducing the dangers caused by a large number of vehicles stopping, standing or parking along a heavily used roadway.

Motorist and pedestrian safety are among the Sheriff's Office highest priorities during this event and Deputies will be patrolling the area to enforce these parking restrictions.

All motorists are asked to use extra caution and stay focused on the road, not the balloons, when driving in the area of the event.

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is dedicated to preserving a safe and secure community with professionalism, respect, integrity and the highest commitment to equality.
