Running for the Dogs: Sheriff's Office Inaugural K9 Run September 28

Have fun on your feet and make the Washoe Sheriff's K9's paws your cause by participating in the inaugural Sheriff's Office K9 Run on Saturday, September 28, starting at the Summit Mall in south Reno.

Proceeds from this fundraising event will go towards equipment and training needed to support the mission of the Washoe County Sheriff's K9 Unit.

This event is pet friendly and is open to all levels of fitness and all ages, featuring a 5K, 10K and a Kids 1 Mile Fun Run. All participants receive a free t-shirt, Finisher's medal and a post race breakfast.

Washoe County Sheriff's Office Inaugural K9 Run

What: Benefit for the Washoe County Sheriff's Office K9 Unit sponsored by Reno Running Co.

When: 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2013

Where: The Summit Mall, south Reno

Cost: 10K - $30 (registration will increase up to $50 the week of the race), 5K - $25 (registration will increase up to $40 the week of the race), Kids 1 Mile Fun Run - $5

There are nine K9 teams currently assigned to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office. Canines provide invaluable support to public safety through their highly specialized training and unique ability to locate narcotics, explosive devices and fugitives. They help their human partners with the apprehension of suspects who attempt to evade arrest by concealing themselves, or who pose a threat to the deputy or members of the public.
