Washoe County Sheriff's Deputy Cole Bunyard was awarded the 2012 Washoe County Deputy of the Year by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10053 of Verdi.
The VFW Post presented the award "in grateful recognition of unyielding adherence to the highest ideals of law enforcement in maintaining, preserving and protecting the lawful rights of all citizens."
Cole received the award from VFW Post 10053 representatives Denise Estes, Danny Waldrop and David Armstrong during the Sheriff's Office monthly ACES meeting on Thursday, August 8, 2013.
While the VFW feels it is important to recognize local first responders for the work they do to keep the home front safe, the Sheriff's Office took the opportunity to thank the Veterans for their duty to Country on the global front.
"The men and women of the Sheriff's Office want to take this opportunity to thank you for your sacrifices and your dedication to our Country," Washoe County Undersheriff Tim Kuzanek told the VFW representatives.
