Employees from the Sparks Galleria Branch of AAA Insurance Nevada presented a $5,000 check to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office today. The donation will be used to purchase ballistic shields for patrol vehicles, increasing safety for Sheriff's Office staff and the public they serve.
AAA branches throughout Nevada, Northern California and Utah have chosen to honor and support local first responders through AAA's Rescue Today philanthropic initiative. The initiative focuses on supporting first responders and rescuers. Sparks Galleria Business Branch Manager Venus Koski said the employees of her branch chose to support the Washoe County Sheriff's Office out of appreciation for the public safety services they provide as a regional law enforcement agency.
"It is important for us to support and partner with first responder organizations to build a stronger, safer, more informed, prepared and resilient community," Koski said.
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is dedicated to preserving a safe and secure community with professionalism, respect, integrity and the highest commitment to equality. Sheriff Darin Balaam is the 27th person elected to serve as the Sheriff of Washoe County since the Office was created in 1861. The Washoe County Sheriff's Office strives to ensure public safety by building trust and creating partnerships within the diverse communities in which we serve. We will promote the dignity of all people supported by our words and actions through open communication while fostering an environment of professionalism, integrity and mutual respect.
