On March 21, 2012, Washoe County Sheriff's Detectives worked a collaborative investigation with the Placer County Sheriff's Office and the Truckee Police Department, served a search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of Tramway Road in Incline Village, Nevada. The search yielded stolen property from over 11 separate burglaries from the Incline Village area dating back to 2007.

Sheriff's Detectives have identified property from previously reported vehicle burglaries, commercial burglaries and residential burglaries. The recovered property includes car stereo equipment, laptops, jewelry, sports memorabilia, flat screen televisions, GPS devices, credit cards, identifications, a guitar, snowboards and a bicycle.

The suspect, Matthew Stanaway, was arrested earlier on March 21, 2012, by the Placer County Sheriff's Office in California following the investigation into an overnight burglary in Truckee, California. Evidence from this theft was found in his car as well as in his residence.

Sheriff's Detectives believe Stanaway was involved in a burglary ring that extended from Truckee through Lake Tahoe and into the Truckee Meadows. Detectives are actively investigating further leads which could result in other arrests and property recovery. Since Stanaway was arrested in California, he will face extradition to Nevada for numerous felony crimes that may include possession of stolen property and Ex-Felon in possession of a stolen firearm.

The Sheriff's Office will hold a property viewing on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, from 11:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Sheriff's Incline Village substation located at 625 Mt. Rose Highway (State Route 431 - click the map it link). The bulk of the property has been identified and returned to the rightful owners. Several small items, including GPS devices will be available for viewing. Owners must provide a positive description of the items and a police report.

The Sheriff's Office reminds residents to keep track of their valuables, including keeping a record of all serial numbers or unique identifying numbers. Residents are also reminded to lock their vehicles and homes. Serial numbers and prompt reporting provide the best opportunity of locating and arresting the responsible suspects.
