Captain Janice Blue has
served with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office since July
1979. She has extensive experience in Detention, Patrol, Detectives,
Administration, and undercover narcotics.
Captain Blue is a graduate
of the F.B.I. National Academy 2002. She holds a Management
Certificate from Nevada P.O.S.T. and a Management Certificate from
UNR.
She is a Commissioners
of Sparks Parks and Recreation Board.
PATROL DIVISION
The Patrol Division of
the Washoe County Sheriff's Office is responsible for all law enforcement
duties within the unincorporated area of Washoe County - an area
of over 6,700 square miles. The Patrol Division encompasses the
following units:
Patrol Division has two
distinct areas of responsibility. Valley Patrol encompasses law
enforcement duties in and around the Truckee Meadows and Incline
Village. In addition, two deputies are assigned to serve the citizens
in the Gerlach-Empire area, 110 miles north of Reno.
Traffic
enforcement on county jurisdictional roadways. The Traffic Section
enforces state law and county ordinances on these county maintained
roadways. The Motorcycle Unit falls under this section.
The Community
Liaison Office (CLO) assists the citizens of Washoe County by
providing a proactive response to concerns, requests, and non-emergency
calls. For more efficient service, the unincorporated area has been
divided into a North District and a South District.
Aviation
Operations include fugitive extraditions and the Regional Aviation
Enforcement Unit (RAVEN). This unit routinely supports search and
rescue operations.
The Crisis Response Team
(CRT) is composed of three separate, highly-trained teams that stand
ready to respond at a moment's notice to crisis situations. These
units are SWAT, the Hostage
Negotiations Team, and the Bomb
Squad.
