Consolidated Extraditions Unit

Main Phone: (775) 328-3009
Sergeant Kevin Eikleberry

Consolidated Extraditions is responsible for all in and out-of-state extraditions for both the Washoe County Sheriff's Office and the Reno Police Department.

Fugitives are transported using four modes of transportation:

1. Consolidated Extraditions aircraft

2. Consolidated Extraditions automobile

3. Private extraditions transport companies

4. Commercial airlines

Two personnel from the Extraditions Unit can easily complete four extraditions anywhere in California in a single day. They leave and arrive home during their normal duty hours on the same day.

The Extraditions Unit of Aviation Operations constantly scrutinizes every available angle to provide for the most cost-effective means of extraditing a fugitive. Personnel have devised a complex mechanism of networking multiple agencies to leapfrog fugitives closer to Washoe County without using any Washoe County assets or funds. Cash awards have actually been received for this money-saving innovation.

For extraditions outside the State of Nevada, travel expenditures for the consolidated unit are reimbursed to the Washoe County's General Fund by the Nevada State Attorney General's Office. Each flight hour flown on an out-of-state extradition is reimbursed by the Attorney General's Office.
