Inmate Programs

Inmate Programs Graphic The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office offers a wide range of self-help programs to inmates housed in the Detention Facility. These programs are privately funded through The Inmate Commissary Fund. Counseling programs provide inmates the opportunity to complete court mandated requirements. All programs are State Certified and are offered to inmates who voluntarily enroll.

Currently there are seven specialized programs being offered:

GED (General Educational Development)
Alcoholics Anonymous
Narcotics Anonymous
Domestic Violence
Substance Abuse
Parenting
Self-Esteem

Religious Services are available to inmates housed in the Detention Facility.

Pursuant to Nevada Revised Statue 211 inmates who either complete an 8 week Substance Abuse Course or obtain their GED are eligible to receive a 5-day credit towards their sentence. This saves the Washoe County taxpayers money.
