INMATE MANAGEMENT

One of the primary responsibilities of the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is to safely and securely detain all persons placed in its custody.  Classification is an essential management tool for performing this function.  Inmate classification can lead to more effective jail operations and more consistent decision making regarding the assignment of inmates to appropriate custody levels.  A consistent classification system is one that facilitates the same classification and screening conclusions among all classification staff and assures fair and equitable processing of inmates.

Tiburon allows us an instant inmate tracking system and management and statistical reporting.  The reporting system maintains all initial screenings, risk assessments, information regarding certain groups; such as members of the same or opposing gangs and persons with specific behavior alerts including escape risks so they can be immediately assessed. The Tiburon program has significantly enhanced the efficiency of the Inmate Management Unit.
