Regional Public Safety Training Center

The Regional Public Safety Training Center (RPSTC), located on 120 acres in Reno, Nevada, is an $18 million multi-use training facility designed to provide the highest quality law enforcement training, fire service training, EMS training, and corrections personnel training.

The RPSTC operates under an Inter-local Agreement between Washoe County, City of Reno, City of Sparks, Sierra Forest Fire Protection District, and Truckee Meadows Community College. This agreement allows for operational, executive, and management structures, which ensure active and equitable participation in the administration and management of the RPSTC. The RPSTC Manager’s Board, Executive Board, and Operations Committee are comprised of various representatives from County, City, and Community College partnering agencies.

The high cost of training public safety personnel forces many organizations to consolidate facilities, instructors, and other resources in order to provide a cost benefit to the organization as well as taxpayers.

The annual cost savings associated with being able to train public safety personnel locally are estimated at $300,000. Additionally, the RPSTC provides training opportunities to non-partnering public safety, and service organizations locally and within the state of Nevada. The RPSTC intends to capitalize on the past success and future potential of this state-of-the-art facility and operational structure by positioning itself as a leading provider of public safety training nationwide.

The mission of the Regional Public Safety Training Center is to provide in-service training and vocational education opportunities of the highest quality and to create an atmosphere of excellence and integrity that benefits the citizens of Washoe County.

The Training Center is committed to building long-term relationships with internal and external stakeholders through mutually beneficial endeavors, by providing quality, value-based training, and seeking continuous improvement of the service we provide.
