The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office online reporting system allows citizens to submit an online report for some crimes and incidents that occur in the unincorporated Washoe County jurisdiction. 

You may also report complaints such as traffic issues, drug tips, homeland security tips and tagging tips.  Report complaints, click here.   

We strongly encourage you to be thorough and accurate when submitting the report.  In addition, we must remind citizens that submitting a false report is a crime.

Make sure you have all the information you need to submit your report

Yourself                 Who is reporting (victim identity)
Incident                  When and where it happened and your detailed description of the event. 
Persons                 Who are witnesses (optional) or other victims
Vehicle                   What vehicle was involved in the incident (optional)
Property                 What was lost, stolen, or damaged

Make sure online reporting is right for your incident.  There are some situations, where a deputy sheriff should take the report.  To serve you better in these circumstances we would like to send out a representative to meet with you to take the report, or you may come to the front desk at 911 Parr Boulevard in Reno, just west of US 395.

This agency will NOT take online reports for the following criminal incidents: assault; robbery; sexual assault; violent crime; domestic violence, terrorist threats; residential burglary; violations of protection orders; stolen vehicle which includes off-road vehicles (ATV), trailers or boats; arson; hate crimes; parental kidnapping; identity theft; check fraud; credit card fraud; and burglary of business, apartment or rental storage.

This agency will NOT take online reports if:

  • You have any information about the suspect (the person you think is guilty of the crime)
  • You have physical evidence such as fingerprints, blood, etc., or a license plate number
  • The traffic-related incident occurred on a State Freeway (I-80, US 395, etc.)
  • The traffic-related incident involved a hit and run accident on private property
  • The incident occurred within the City of Reno or the City of Sparks (WE HANDLE UNINCORPORATED AREAS OF WASHOE COUNTY ONLY)

These types of incident reports CAN be reported online:

    • Graffiti - Use this ONLY if you are the owner of the property or the agent for the owner of the property; all others use the Graffiti Tagging Tip line below.
    • Harassing Phone Calls
    • Lost Property
    • Theft
    • Vandalism
    • Vehicle Burglary  
    • Vehicle Tampering
    • Traffic Accident - private property

Do not use this report if the accident involved a hit & run that happened on a roadway.  If it involved a hit & run while you were on a roadway, call dispatch at 785-4629. For Incline Village, call dispatch at 832-4111

If you are not sure if the online report is right for your situation or you need further assistance, look at our Frequently Asked Questions section or call the Sheriff’s Office at 328-3001, option 8.

Once your report is submitted, you will receive a message "Your report has been submitted" showing that your report is complete, be given a temporary case number and be able to print a copy of the report to keep for your records.  All cases filed online will be reviewed.  Upon review, you may be contacted if further information or investigation of your case is needed.
