The Washoe County Sheriff's
Office is concerned with keeping the community informed about the
operation of the Sheriff's Office. One of the ways to accomplish
this is by regularly keeping the news media, and thereby the public,
informed of events involving the Sheriff's Office and its personnel.
The Public Information Officer (P.I.O.) coordinates this by acting
as a liaison between the Sheriff's Office and media representatives.
Duties include assisting reporters assigned to cover news stories
and providing them with general information at the scene of major
incidents. Our goal is to provide timely and factual information
to the community we serve.
The P.I.O.
is available 24 hours a day to respond to the scene of major incidents.

Washoe County Sheriff’s Office personnel will be contacting residents in the Caughlin Ranch area and providing information regarding how to prevent from becoming a victim of residential or vehicle burglary. Statistics demonstrate unlocked residential and vehicle doors often provide burglars with easy targets for their crimes.
The Sheriff’s Office is committed to the safety and security of the public, therefore, Sheriff’s Office teams will be contacting residents, providing burglary prevention tips, and information for reporting suspicious activities. The Sheriff’s Office encourages all residents who have seen or heard suspicious activities to contact law enforcement as this information could be crucial to solving previously reported cases.
Washoe County Search and Rescue Deputy Don Patch will be the Event Commander of the “Knock-N-Lock”. Deputy Patch can be reached at (775) 742-3354. All assigned members will report to the Command Post parked at the Caughlin Ranch Elementary School parking lot, located at 4885 Village Green Parkway.
All assigned members will be clearly identifiable. All personnel will wear their appropriate uniform, to include a reflective vest.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office encourages its residents to take a few minutes to take note of the information being delivered on Sunday the 18th.
Lastly, report suspicious persons/activities and crimes immediately by calling 334-COPS or dialing 911 in case of emergency.
