The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is concerned with keeping the community informed about the operation of the Sheriff's Office. One of the ways to accomplish this is by regularly keeping the news media, and thereby the public, informed of events involving the Sheriff's Office and its personnel. The Public Information Officer (P.I.O.) coordinates this by acting as a liaison between the Sheriff's Office and media representatives. Duties include assisting reporters assigned to cover news stories and providing them with general information at the scene of major incidents. Our goal is to provide timely and factual information to the community we serve.

The P.I.O. is available 24 hours a day to respond to the scene of major incidents.

Man stabbed in Sun Valley

WHEN:           May 9, 2010 Approximately 12:24 A.M.

WHERE:        Warhol Drive, Sun Valley

VICTIM           30 Year Old Hispanic Male

SUSPECT     Baltazar, Juan Carlos – age 28

The Washoe County Sheriff Deputies responded to a call on Warhol Drive in Sun Valley early Sunday morning on a report of a subject who has just been stabbed.

At approximately 12:24 A.M., Deputies arrived on scene and located several subjects inside the residence.  The victim had already been transported to Renown Medical Center by a family member.  It was reported that the victim has been stabbed during an argument inside of the suspect’s residence.

Detectives learned that the victim, a 30 year old male, had been confronted by the suspect inside of his residence.  The suspect has been identified as 28 year old Juan Baltazar, who is known to the victim and family members.  Baltazar reportedly engaged the suspect inside of the residence and stabbed him.  The victim was able to exit the residence and was taken to Renown.  Baltazar fled on foot prior to Deputies arriving at the residence.

Baltazar is wanted for questioning and Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crime to please contact Washoe County Detectives at 328-3320, or call Secret Witness at 322-4900.
