The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is concerned with keeping the community informed about the operation of the Sheriff's Office. One of the ways to accomplish this is by regularly keeping the news media, and thereby the public, informed of events involving the Sheriff's Office and its personnel. The Public Information Officer (P.I.O.) coordinates this by acting as a liaison between the Sheriff's Office and media representatives. Duties include assisting reporters assigned to cover news stories and providing them with general information at the scene of major incidents. Our goal is to provide timely and factual information to the community we serve.

The P.I.O. is available 24 hours a day to respond to the scene of major incidents.

3 Females Arrested for Attacking Reno Woman

WHEN:           Late night June 20 and the early morning hours of June 21, 2010

WHERE:        Lemmon Valley Pits

VICTIM/S:       White female, 19, resident of Reno

SUSPECT/S:            2 white females, both 17, residents of Reno
Kelsie Ann Thomas, 18, Resident of Reno

Washoe County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of a physical altercation between three females battering a fourth female at a party at the “Lemmon Valley Pits”. 

Once deputies arrived on scene, they met with the female victim and witnesses.  Sheriff’s Deputies learned through their initial investigation that three females approached the victim and began a physical altercation. 

Kelsie Ann Thomas, 18 was identified and arrested along with two 17 year old females.  The suspects stuck the female victim her in the face multiple times and broke a bottle over her head.  The victim was seen by REMSA and was treated for her injuries.

Thomas was arrested for Battery with a Deadly Weapon and booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility.  The two juveniles were arrested, charged with Simple Battery and transported to Jan Evans Juvenile Detention Facility.
